There’s something about 7/8" (aka 22.2mm) handlebars that seem to attract the most abusive riders out there, so we’ve taken our popular Boxcar stem and beefed it up even further! We already use 2024 alloy for all of our boxcar stems, as it has a higher fatigue and yield strength than 6061. We made sure the clamp was extra thick on this version and even added 2 more high-strength stainless faceplate screws. Is it overkill? Definitely. You really can have it all-the new WCS C220 stem rivals the performance of the revolutionary C260 stem design, but it's quicker and easier to install and remove, thanks to a press-fit handlebar clamp interface and forward-facing hardware. First proven on the Ritchey TRAIL stem, the C220 handlebar clamp design creates a more secure interface by wrapping a full 220-degrees over the handlebar. Bolt forces are aligned with the clamp so that the stem body 'embraces' the handlebar, which is less prone to damaging lightweight bars. Renthal's revolutionary Integra 35 stem combines high strength with ultra-low weight. The use of two independent, C-shape handlebar clamps allows the stem body material to be reduced to a minimum, while maintaining an incredibly stiff and strong structure. The ultra-wide, 64mm handlebar clamping area increases torsional rigidity and the use of just six bolts vastly reduces overall weight. In addition, the uninterrupted clamp on the underside of the handlebar eliminates stress risers found on most other clamps, which can lead to handlebar failure.
